The AT BUFFALO team is in residence at the University at Buffalo as part of the Creative Arts Initiative. The staged readings will test the latest script revisions that the 

AT BUFFALO creative team will have made during their 10-day development process.

Get a glimpse inside the rehearsal & work room of AT BUFFALO

Join us for site-specific public rehearsals and work hours in one of the historic sites that appear in the AT BUFFALO narrative. Visitors are welcome to come and go, or stay for the entire time. Following the open rehearsal/work hour the AT BUFFALO team will host a community dialogue about themes from the musical and the 1901 Pan-American Exposition including race, citizenship, and inclusion.

  • Saturday, November 11, 2017

    • Location: Michigan Street Baptist Church site (511 Michigan Ave., Buffalo, NY)

    • Time:

      • 11:30am - 12:30pm (Open rehearsal)

      • 12:30pm - 1pm (Discussion)

    • Select scenes from AT BUFFALO about Mary Talbert, Buffalo's historic black community, and their protest meeting to participate in the 1901 Pan-American Exposition 

 

  • Monday, November 13, 2017

    • Location: Buffalo Museum of Science - Main Gallery (1020 Humboldt Pkwy, Buffalo,  NY)

    • Time: 1:00pm - 2:15pm

    • A public conversation between the AT BUFFALO writing team and UB Prof. Christian Flaugh's Exposing Race Archives class about the Museum's Darkest Africa artifacts collections from the Pan-Am. Brief examples from the musical will be shared and discussion topics will include race, performance, and the archives.

 

  • Wednesday, November 15, 2017

    • Location: The Buffalo History Museum (1 Museum Ct., Buffalo, NY)

    • Time: 6:00pm - 8:00pm

    • Performative exploration of race, citizenship, and inclusion from the AT BUFFALO narrative
